Announcing our first beneficiary: HEALTHRIGHT INTERNATIONAL

Beginning Jan 1, the Foundation will highlight ten charitable organizations per quarter. Between now and then, we’ll gradually introduce you to our first slate.
Today we are proud to introduce HealthRight International as our first beneficiary in the category of HEALTH.
HealthRight changed its name from Doctors of the World this year to draw attention to its central philosophy — that health is a human right. HealthRight works around the world to close the health care gap between haves and have-nots, making basic health care available to marginalized and disadvantaged groups.
HealthRight was selected for its demonstrated efficiency and effectiveness, as reflected in its four-star rating (out of 4) on Charity Navigator.
The beneficiaries for the first quarter of 2010 were selected by the Foundation Board. Active members can help us choose future beneficiaries by researching and nominating charities and (beginning Jan 1) by discussing, debating, and advocating for the causes of their choice through our social network. Final decisions will be made by the Board, but collective member input will be among the most important considerations.
