January Team of the Month & Picture of the Month

We are happy to announce our January Beyond Belief Network Picture of the Month and Team of the Month winners. This month’s Picture of the Month winning photo is from South Texas Atheists for Reason’s event at the San Antonio Food Bank. At their Gardening for Good event, STAR volunteers helped the food bank prepare garden plots that will help locals include fresh vegetables in their meals. Great work STAR!

January’s Team of the Month, Springfield Skeptics, had two events in January. They returned to the GLO Center to serve a meal for the teen group. This time they laid out a potato bar where the kids were able to make their own baked potato. It is a fantastic opportunity to let these kids know that they are valued and they are loved! Springfield Skeptics also took the entire month of January to collect preschool, pre-literacy, and early reader books for the Ozarks Literacy Council, which teaches both children and adults to read. They gathered almost 400 lbs of books and presented them to the organization. They got a tour and presented the boxes of books along with a $250 check, which is how they decided to use their 2017 Silver Level grant! They even live-streamed the presentation event into the Springfield Skeptics Facebook group for members who couldn't be there in person. What a great way to start the year, Springfield Skeptics!
