Better Together Day is a great reason to update your student team

By

This blog has two purposes. One is to let you know about the Interfaith Youth Core's (IFYC) Better Together Day that is happening today,  April 7th. IFYC is a two-time FBB Challenge the Gap beneficiary and has a history of inclusion of atheists and humanists in their on-campus interfaith work. Better Together Day, is a great opportunity to do outreach and education on campus about atheist and humanist values. FBB has two events guides, Hug an Atheist Week and Speed Faithing, for events that can be put on quickly and adapted to this occasion. If you decide to put on an event, don't forget to submit an event report

Which brings me to the second purpose of this letter. With students teams there is a lot of leadership turnover. You might not even know your group is a BBN team! If your team is not submitting event reports, this is an opportunity to get acquainted or reacquainted with BBN perks. For example, when your team has enough events you become eligible for free t-shirts and can apply for grants. Now is the time to update you profile and tell us about any details, including your contact person, that have changed.

Here are some things you need to know about if you're are new to BBN:

  1. Assign a member to be the designated BBN contact person, who will keep your team updated on the latest BBN news, fill out your event reports, and interact with BBN staff.
  2. Tell us about your events so you can get all of the recognition and benefits your team deserves! You don't have to submit any event reports if you don't want to, but only events submitted through the form will move you up the levels and give your team more benefits.
  3. Join our Facebook group for networking opportunities, updates and news about BBN and FBB, and access to event-planning and idea guides. Because of some problems with spam, this is a secret group, so we'll send you an invite to join. If the email address you've provided us is not the one linked to your Facebook account, please reply to this email to send us the email address to us on Facebook, and we'll send an invite to that address.
  4. Tell us about your service activities so we can help you promote them! On Twitter, tweet @FoundBB and use the hashtag #HumanismAtWork. You can also tell us about future events that need promoting using the promotion request form.

If you need inspiration, check out the guides on the Facebook group page, ask the other BBN members for help, or contact us to ask for help from BBN staff or a mentor group. Learn more about what BBN has to offer your team on our website.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us.

Good luck and happy volunteering!
