Black Atheists of America is very excited to receive the donation from Foundation Beyond Belief’s small grants program for our Science Cubed initiative. Under the Science Cubed program, Black Atheists of America donates school supplies to science classrooms in underserved schools. In order to qualify for the program, a minimum of forty percent of the students must be living at or below the poverty line. Thus far we have extended grants to seven classrooms.

We will be applying the $1,500 donation from Foundation Beyond Belief to schools that have been affected by Superstorm Sandy in New York. The first school that will be receiving supplies from the Foundation Beyond Belief donation is Rockaway Park High School. The New York Times recently interviewed the students at the school regarding the effects of Sandy. [Our disaster response beneficiary, Team Rubicon, was also very active in the Rockaway area of New York after Hurricane Sandy.]

Black Atheists of America is honored to have an opportunity to help such wonderful students. We are excited to see our Science Cubed program continue to grow.

You can still support this program with a donation at our ongoing small grants initiatives page in order to help them reach their goal of $2,500 in donations to the Science Cubed program.
