Charity Report: The Global Fund for Children

By

Global Fund for ChildrenSecond-quarter beneficiary The Global Fund for Children gave us this report on how they’re using the funds they received from Foundation Beyond Belief. Foundation members donated $1,975 to The Global Fund for Children last quarter.

The Global Fund for Children supports innovative community-based organizations around the world. These organizations reach the world’s most vulnerable children, those not touched by government and social service agencies.

We make small grants to these organizations and work to build their capacity. To date, GFC has awarded nearly $18 million in grants to 401 grassroots organizations in 75 countries. Our grants bring medical care to children living in remote areas, help children orphaned by the AIDS epidemic stay in school and receive the education they need to thrive, and raise awareness about issues such as domestic violence and human trafficking in local communities where they are an issue.

Students at Nyaka School, UgandaOur grants prove that a small amount of money, when given wisely, can make an enormous difference in the lives of children. In Cambodia, where extreme poverty and high unemployment leave children susceptible to violence, abuse, sexual exploitation, and human trafficking, GFC is supporting KnK Network in its efforts to provide care and rehabilitation services for youth who have been trafficked or recently released from prison. And in rural Uganda, Nyaka School has developed a holistic education program for AIDS orphans that is so successful that it is now being studied by the local government and neighboring countries for replication. One hundred percent of Nyaka students passed the national exam last term!

The Foundation Beyond Belief’s generous donation will support groups like KnK and Nyaka in their work to create opportunities for children to reach their potential. Together, we can ensure that all children grow up to become healthy, productive citizens of our global society.
