FBB Members Help Central Asia Institute Support Literacy and Health Care Programs

By

Second-quarter peace beneficiary Central Asia Institute gave us this report about how they are using the funds contributed by members of Foundation Beyond Belief. Members donated $2,535 to CAI last quarter.

Dear Foundation Members,

Thank you for your generosity to Central Asia Institute (CAI). We are grateful for your kindness and support of CAI’s mission of promoting literacy, especially for girls, in remote regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

With your support, CAI has grown to include more than 170 schools in remote and sometimes volatile areas of Afghanistan (Wakhan, Badakhshan, Wardak, Takhar, Kunar, Panjshir, Logar, Parwan, Urozgon, and Panjshir provinces) and Pakistan (Azad Kashmir, Baltistan, Charpusan, Ghizar, Gupis, and Punjab regions), which have educated more than 68,000 students, including 58,000 girls. CAI also supports women’s literacy centers, scholarship programs, and maternal health care programs in both countries. We have also, in help from your support, expanded our scholarship program for girls in the Kashmir area.

Since the founding of our education and service-learning program, Pennies for Peace, more than 9,400 schools, organizations, places of worship, libraries, and businesses have registered their campaigns and participation, representing over 62 countries. Students of all ages are bringing hope and education to children a half a world away. For more information, please visit the Pennies for Peace website.

We are pleased to announce the new CAI Communique. Here you will find news items and stories about what is happening with the organization both overseas and stateside.
