Giving Tuesday & Annual Appeal + special opportunity for top donors

Giving Tuesday is fast approaching. This is traditionally the day when we not only reflect on what we are grateful for, but we put that gratitude into action. This year FBB is kicking off our Annual Appeal on Giving Tuesday and showing our gratitude for you.

As a way of showing our appreciation for your support, FBB will be inviting our top three Annual Appeal donors to a special virtual conversation with Saturday Night Live alum and noted nonbeliever Julia Sweeney. The three individuals or households with the highest total giving during the Annual Appeal will join in a casual, unscripted conversation with Julia, FBB board members, and FBB Executive Director Noelle George in the new year. Gifts must be received online or checks postmarked from 12:00 a.m. on November 27 through 11:59 p.m. on December 31.

The success of our Annual Appeal sets the tone for the year ahead. Your support demonstrates that you value programs like Humanist Grants, the Service Corps, Disaster Recovery, and the Beyond Belief Network. None of these programs could exist without the staffing and infrastructure that your support funds during the Annual Appeal and throughout the year.

Doing Good for Its Own Sake

Founder and current board member Dale McGowan lends insight into FBB’s role and the important niche it fills for humanists:

"I’ve often heard supporters say they are glad for Foundation Beyond Belief because it demonstrates that you can be good without God. That’s certainly one reason FBB was created. But an equally important goal is to change our relationship to philanthropy—to make giving and volunteering a central part of what it means to be a humanist. We often think of humanism as a point of arrival, the state of having given up religious illusions. But putting the humanist values of mutual care and responsibility at the heart of who we are is an ongoing process."
