HDR Appeals update & California Fires

By

Thank you to every person who donated to our Disaster Appeal: Hurricane Season 2018 and our Call to Action: Family Separation at the Border. Your gifts will make a real difference in the lives of those affected by these crises. These campaigns will be closed on Monday, November 19th. If you would still like support either cause, please be sure to make your contribution before Monday.

While hurricane season is over for this year, the family separation policy remains an active and traumatizing humanitarian crisis. We will continue to monitor the situation and continue to look for opportunities to support the families separated at the southern US border.

At FBB, we are horrified and saddened by the death and destruction of the Camp and Woolsey Fires in California. We are not launching a disaster appeal at this time, but we know many of you want to donate support the victims of the fires. There are two orgs that we suggest you donate to: the California Fire Foundation and Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation.

The California Fire Foundation’s mission to provide emotional and financial support to fire victims, firefighters, and fallen firefighters’ families. They are currently raising money for their SAVE program to provide gift cards to victims who have fled the fires so they can afford basic necessities now.

The Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation supports the LA Fire Department with essential equipment, training, and public outreach programs, which is supplemental to what the city provides. They are currently raising money to provide hydration backpacks for firefighters.

Our hearts go out to all the victims of the Camp and Woolsey Fires and support the efforts of all the emergency responders who are putting their lives on the line to do whatever they can to put contain these fires.
