The Adaptive Sports Connection (ASC), a chapter of Move United (formerly Disabled Sports USA), helps Central Ohio veterans, children, and adults who need adaptive equipment or instruction to participate in various sports including skiing, kayaking, sailing and cycling. One COUNT member attended an 8 hour American Canoeing Association (ACA) Level 1 Kayak Instructor training event on 7/31/2021. ASC maintains a substantial fleet of kayaks setup to work for paddlers with various capabilities. Volunteers help select and adjust kayaks & life jackets, provide basic paddling instruction, load, launch, accompany while on water and retrieve and store afterwards. Twelve COUNT members have participated in the ASC Kayaking program at 45 training/volunteer events contributing a total of 236.5 hours. COUNT members have participated in 100 ASC Cycling, Winter Sports, Kayaking and/or Sailing events, contributing 706.5 hours since we started working with ASC in August 2018.
