HAPI Zambales lead convenor, Van Pugay Catayong, distributed 50 packs of bread, and turned over an additional 100 packs, to the children and staff of St. Francis Learning Center Foundation Inc. in Subic, Zambales. This took place on the morning of February 22, 2023. The center aims to provide shelter, food, and education for approximately 150 children from the Aetas, an indigenous people of the area. They have even opened their doors to children who do not belong to the indigenous people. This project was made possible through the food security program of GO Humanity. //Aetas-They are considered to be part of the Negrito ethnic groups and share common physical characteristics of dark skin tones, short statures, curly to Afro-textured hair, and a higher frequency of naturally lighter hair color (blondism) relative to the general population. They are thought to be among the earliest inhabitants of the Philippines, preceding the Austronesian migrations. Regardless, modern Aeta populations have significant Austronesian admixture and speak Austronesian languages.// #WeAreHAPI #HAPIzambales #GOhumanity #FoodSecurityProgram
