HAPI Green Movement: HAPI Tree Growing in San Jose, Batangas

San Jose, Batangas is known to be the agricultural center of Batangas Province, that’s why it is the municipality’s mission to protect their livelihood. One of the ways to achieve this is to have tree planting and tree growing. In celebration with Earth Day, HAPI Green Movement through HAPI Green Movement Ambassador Diosa Marie Aguila-Aguirre, Environmental Management Unit –Alangilan and Pablo Borbon Campuses and Philippine Society of Sanitary Engineers – BatStateU Student Chapter coordinated with San Jose Municipal Government for a Tree Growing Project: helping planted trees to be more resilient by mulching around their roots. Fifty planted trees were mulched in Tugtug Elementary School’s lot by EMU staff, PSSE officers and HAPI Green Movement Ambassador. Before the mulching, HAPI Green Movement Ambassador explained how to put mulch through a mini-lecture. This would be the second year of mulching trees with San Jose, Batangas, strengthening the relationship with the municipality. Thus, this could potentially be an annual activity.
