HAPI Tree Growing in Balayan, Batangas

Every 25th day of June is observed as National Arbor Day, in which government agencies and individuals are encouraged to plant trees. Last year, we celebrated this event with Municipal Environmental and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) Balayan through planting and mulching trees in Barangay Patugo, Balayan. For this year, HAPI-Green Movement, with Environmental Management Unit –Alangilan Campus and Pablo Borbon Campus, visited Barangay Sambat, planted trees, and mulched the trees to further help them in maintaining the moisture of the soil around them. Four sacks of mulch (rice hull, sawdust and compost mixed together) were used in the newly planted trees near the river of Sambat, Balayan. This would be the second year of HAPI Green Movement providing mulch with Balayan, Batangas during Arbor Day, strengthening the relationship with the municipality. This could potentially be an annual partnership.
