Charlie Center Navigation and food for people experiencing homelessness. Loved “I thought y'all might like these little tidbits from today. 1. Raythan was actually very sweet to me despite being pissed off about the Green Eggs and Ham book last week. 🤓. He said he loves us and appreciates us. 2. We had several come when we were closed again. Nicole helped me grab extra food and then I still dished out more from the left over casserole for some others who came. 3. Leah and Virginia stayed a looooong time to help those late comers with navigation as they could. 4. The power of what the Charlie Center does....one of the late comers was filling out info with Leah and said how he's struggling with voices and wanting to self harm and possibly harm others. He also had a leg infection. We took him to the hospital and got him checked in. He gave a hug and said thank you very much. 5. I met someone at H‑E‑B yesterday who is fresh out of prison and new to Austin. I offered a Gatorade to get convo started and then told him to come today. He was there at 9:00am on the DOT and as he left he said he felt it was a real blessing we met. Just sharing so that y'all know the power of what we do and who we touch. I like to share with our friends that THEY touch our lives too and it feels like a family out there. I know y'all feel the same. It's not just "food" we are giving out. We are giving out sustenance that helps them think and go about the hard day. We are creating relationships where relationships and interaction and dignity are needed. Y'all are amazing. I love you all. Truly. ”
