International Coastal Cleanup 2022-HAPI Green

International Coastal Cleanup is celebrated every 3rd Saturday of September, and for this year, it will be on September 17, 2022. Many international organizations come together to go to the nearest coasts in their area to pick up trash that contribute to the growing pollution problem. Another goal of this event is to document the type of trash collected so that further studies and policies can be delivered. Over 6 million volunteers in 90 countries participate each year. HAPI Green Movement led by Diosa Marie Aguila-Aguirre, with 4 other volunteers, went to Brgy. Ilijan, Batangas City and picked up trash from 6am-8am, 9-10am, and 4pm-5pm. We gathered 5 sacks of plastic wastes from the coast. The trash was also reported in Clean Swell App made by Ocean Conservatory, the organization who started the international coastal cleanup celebration, to have scientific data and to analyze what can be done to reduce plastic wastes. By participating in this event, we contributed to the reduction of marine litter and ensured cleaner seas for our future generation, which are in line with our Environmental Humanism mission.
