July 2022 Food Rescue

This month our food collections were 3500 pounds. We continued working on establishing commissary agreements with a kitchens so that we can package donations of bulk prepared foods so that they can get to people in need. We are still searching for something more central. We have a retail license at the Summit Community Care Clinic. We got a wholesale license so that we can take the food that we package to the Family and Intercultural Resource Center (FIRC) and other food access points that aren't directly outlets of CFR. We are working on a retail license at the FIRC as well. We are talking with Colorado Mountain College and our county department of public health about additions food access points. There is still interest in a mobile pantry. We need our own freezer space and a little more robust flow of food to make that happen, but we are moving that direction. We are also talking with the Town of Frisco and organizations that use a Town space including SOS that has activities for kids about a food access point there. We are really proud of delivering food that we packaged this month. What we provided includes fruit salad, quinoa salad, ribs, pies, breakfast sausage, bacon, and salsa.
