For the longest period, religious factions have ruled the Visayas Regions. According to the 2010 NSO (National Statistical Offices) census, the Roman Catholic Church has 74,211,896 adherents, accounting for 80.6 percent of the Philippine population. Metro Manila has the highest concentration of Catholics in the country, accounting for at least 10,571,327 Catholics, or 14% of the country's total Roman Catholic population. Kape Yuhumanista is a Bacolod or hiligaynon dialect-influenced moniker. Yuhum is a phrase for grin, and Bacolod is known as the "Smile City" because of its folks. Originally, it was Café Humaniste, a Humanists International-funded event series that brings people together to discuss topics that interest them and to promote secular humanism in the Philippines' predominantly religious provinces, improve the demographics of the chapter and organization, and cover topics in Science, Culture, and Secularism.
