May 2022 Food Rescue

This month our food collections were 2540 pounds. We continued working on establishing a commissary agreement with a kitchen so that we can package donations of bulk prepared foods so that they can get to people in need. Currently donations of hotel pans of food can only go to our partners that have community dinners or day services for unhoused people where they provide a meal on site. There is much more bulk prepared food available than these sites can use. We have a proposal in progress for with Summit County to use the kitchen for their Community and Senior Center for packaging, but they do not have any cold storage space that we can use. We did sign a commissary agreement with the Keystone Conference Center on June 3 (jumping ahead only a little). Diane got certified as a food service manager and Diana will in June. We will get a retail and wholesale license for food manufacture in June as well.
