September 2022 Food Rescue

This month our food collections were 2825 pounds. And for the year, we have collected and distributed more than 21,000 pounds of food. We ran some numbers, about 1/2 of our collections are through the Grocery Rescue program and 1/2 are through organizations that we have cultivated partnerships with. If you compare what is collected from a local grocery store to what we collect from a conference center you'll find differences in nutritional value. Grocery store: Bread and cake 31%, Dairy 5%, Produce 22%, Meat 7%, grocery (juice big part) 20%, nonfood 5%, deli (mostly homemade chef dinners) 10%. Caterer: Produce 29%, prepared fresh fruit and veg. 8%, prepared veg 10%, protein 23%, potatoes/rice 11%, bread and desert 14%, dairy 3%. October looks like it will be big for donations from the conference center.
