September food rescue

In September, we operated with just three volunteers collecting surplus food from the Starbucks in Frisco, CO. Most of the deliveries were to the Summit Community Care Clinic also in Frisco. The food that we collect is especially helpful to the unhoused and underhoused. It is either ready to eat, or heat in a microwave. It includes breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, protein boxes, salads, muffins, cookies, and cakes. The protein boxes include either eggs, chicken, cheese, or falafel bites plus sugar snap peas and carrots and some sliced fruit or grapes. It feels best when we have a lot of these protein boxes to share. The breakfast sandwiches are very popular. Sometimes there are cake pops which are exciting to kids that are waiting for a doctor's appointment. We base estimates of food collected on a month's worth of weighing collections. In September, we collected an estimated 720 pounds of food which equates to 600 meals. This served 600 individuals.
