This is a cleanup event organized yearly by the Lake Pontchartrain Conservancy to reduce the amount of trash around the shores of Lake Pontchartrain in preparation for the upcoming hurricane season. Excessive debris can get into and clog drainage systems, or eventually wash into and pollute the ecosystems of the Lake and the Gulf of Mexico.
