Why LLS? We need a cure that won’t cause cancer!

LLS Light the Night WalkFoundation Beyond Belief has partnered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to raise money through their Light the Night Walks. Fundraising will continue until the end of the year, with 100% of donations up to $500,000 being matched by team captain Todd Stiefel and his family.

From our Honored Hero webform, Sara Wilkison tells us about her Honored Hero, Alexander Wilkison:

AlexHe is my son. At 3-1/2 he was diagnosed with lymphoma—two years of chemo later, he was cancer free for five months—then we discovered that the chemo had caused a genetic mutation that resulted in leukemia. He went in for a bone marrow transplant five months later, and now he is one year post-transplant and doing well. We need a cure that won’t cause cancer—we need a better cure. A seven-year-old should not have so many scars . . .

He is so brave, so strong, so amazing—I am so honored to be his mother!
