Wrapping Up the Sandy Crisis Response

By

Humanist Crisis ResponseTwo months ago, we watched as Superstorm Sandy ascended the East Coast, tearing apart many Northeastern cities and communities unprepared for storms of that magnitude. Since then, we’ve raised more than $17,000 for the cause. Your donations helped military veterans use their experience in disaster relief to rebuild affected communities, as well as providing sanitary shelter and fighting cholera in Haiti. You can read more about where exactly your donations have gone on the FBB blog

Here are the official fundraising totals so far:

Team Rubicon (US) $13,305
International Medical Corps (Haiti) $4,015
Total for Drive $17,320

Team RubiconWe’ll be wrapping up this Crisis Response on Saturday, December 1. The organizations we supported have already begun transitioning operations to other groups for long-term rehabilitation, such as New York Cares. If you’re interested in volunteering for New York Cares, visit their volunteer opportunities page.

But you can still donate to help rebuild the wreckage in Sandy’s wake! Please consider contributing, however small, to ongoing relief efforts, and always be attentive to other crises that might warrant a humanist response.

To make a donation before the 1st, visit the FBB Crisis Response page. As always, thanks for helping to support these communities in need.
